Alex’s first
singing and stage experience came from acting in school plays. Almost every
part he got required him to sing. His vocal chops further developed with
each play he performed in. From taking music and chorus classes in school,
Knight learned the fundamentals of rhythm, melody and music theory.
Performing on stage became a passion and Alex knew he wanted to further
pursue a career in the entertainment industry. When Alex is on a stage he
has the audience in the palms of his hands. His charisma and commanding
stage presence is undeniable. It is evident Knight possesses superstar
qualities as well as natural musical talent.
Blackwood is Knight’s first band. Before joining the band, Alex was en route towards an acting career. “I still love acting, but there is nothing like being on stage with a band.” “Blackwood fans are the best, they know every word to every song and sometimes cheer louder than we play,” says Alex.
Knight is not your typical lead singer; he is more like a front man, much like David Lee Roth, Paul Stanley and Steven Tyler. Alex feels it is important to be entertaining and put on the best show possible for all who attend a Blackwood concert. Knight’s voice is very versatile, ranging from baritone to mezzo-soprano. He brings his original style and sound into Blackwood’s music. Knight’s type of singing is not seen in today’s modern metal, making his voice truly unique.
