At the age of 12 while playing the game Guitar Hero, Michael Thorne first heard the song “One” by Metallica. From that point on Michael wanted to play guitar. Two years later he got his first guitar and played it almost nonstop. Then after hearing the song “Peace Sells” by Megadeth, Thorne quickly switched to playing the bass guitar. Michael started learning several Metallica and Megadeth songs. Playing those songs made Thorne realize that he wanted to become a professional musician and achieve "rock star" status.
As a bassist, Michael Thorne’s approach is to play what needs to be played in a song without overdoing it. “If a song calls for simple, I keep it simple. If I’m needed to play technical then I’ll play technical,” says Michael. Thorne’s deep bottom end tones and disciplined style makes him a great liaison between the drums, guitar and vocals.
