Q. For the record, what is the name of your band?
Blackwood
Q. What is your name and what do you do?
Richie Blackwood lead guitar/song writer for the band Blackwood.
Q. Do you have any solo projects you are working on, or
finished? Blackwood is my main focus, but in between albums and tours I do solo music, session work with several different recording artists and I do acting on TV and in Film.
Q. How did you become a part of the group?
I created and formed Blackwood
Q. Can you tell me about the humble beginnings?
We had to overcome many obstacles and it's made us stronger, hungrier and wiser. You learn more from life experience and that's something a book can't teach you.
Q. When and where did the band originate?
Long Island, NY 2003
Q. What was your first show?
The place was called the Backstage. I'm not sure if it is still called that though.
Q. How did you feel at that moment?
Great.
Q. What was the biggest crowd you ever played for?
A couple of thousand and we have a show coming up at Six Flags in NJ. We were told several thousand will be there in attendance.
Q. Do you have a favorite song that you play? And why?
I enjoy performing all the songs.
Q. What can people who have never seen you expect?
A great time and an entertaining show.
Q. What is the most memorable thing being weird/funny a
fan has ever done? Any time someone comes up and says something nice about Blackwood's music, our show or one of us we consider that a memorable thing. We appreciate all the support we are getting from our fans all over the world. Our fans are the best. We love you all.
Q. What question are you most tired of answering time
after time? I appreciate anyone who has interest in Blackwood, so if they want to ask me a question that I have answered a thousand times already, that's fine by me.
Q. Are there any new artists that you would recommend?
I recommend that people always seek out new artists, because there are always great new artists popping up all the time.
Q. For a time there, all the bands and music were
sounding the same, what makes you stick out?
Blackwood's sound, look, attitude and message are different from any band out today. Our influences are more in the classic hard rock genre. We don't follow trends. We stick to what we know and give our fans 110 percent.
Q. How would you describe yourself?
Humble, thankful and always on the quest to increase my wisdom and knowledge of the world and beyond.
Q. What advice would you give to someone starting out
in the music biz? Follow your heart and don't listen to negative people who will tell you what you can and can't do.
Q. Who are/were your biggest influences?
Kiss, Van Halen, Judas Priest etc.
Q. Are you touring now? Where and when?
